Learning how to budget your clothing dollars can be a little trying at times. It’s important to keep in mind to not spend a lot of money on items that you are only going to wear once. There are so many trends coming out back to back and you can’t buy them all. Look at your wardrobe as an investment and no one wants to make a bad investment. I am not saying you can’t buy trendy pieces, just spend less or create the trend from items you already own in your closet. Also, you don’t have to jump on board with every fashion trend.
If you want to splurge occasionally, go for it! Since becoming self-employed, I don’t splurge as much as I used to but I am good at shopping bargains on pricey clothing items and finding sales! I recently shopped rachelroy.com and found some amazing items on sale! Their clothing has excellent quality so even without a sale, they are worth the prices. When I think of Rachel Roy clothing, I think of the day-to-day lifestyle of women. The collections cover all of your styling needs from work to play. I have been shopping this brand for a few years now and with every purchase, I have been happy.
The denim overall dress I am wearing was purchased a few years ago from her website. I got it on sale for an unbelievable price! This was one of those “I’ve Got To Have It” buys, so I couldn’t leave it behind. I am wearing it with a linen tee from Old Navy. I will be able to wear this dress all year round and that’s what makes it a great investment. In the fall/winter, I can layer with a turtleneck, jacket, and boots. I feel like my money will go a long way with this great buy. I will have this timeless dress for many years to come.
Below, all items I am wearing with my dress were purchased on sale. All items are by Michael Kors. My leather bag was only $169 at Marshalls. The sandals I got off eBay for $69 and the belt was $20 at Ross. I don’t consider any of these items trendy, but my outfit is definitely fashion-forward and stylish.
