Friday is finally here and I would like to start a conversation with my 50 and older crew! I don’t mean to exclude anyone, but today’s topic is all about my personal struggles with menopause and all that comes with it. At the end of this post, I would love to have your input of shared experiences that you feel will help me (and others) while going through this stage of life.
Don’t get me wrong, I love that I am living my purpose and doing what I enjoy. I also understand that aging is a part of life and I am thankful for each day, but I need for this menopausal stage to move on quickly.
So, where do I start? Right now, my hormones are all over the place! Some days I want to throw my hands in the air and just start screaming for no reason. My hair is thinning, my skin is looking weird and I am gaining weight everywhere. I am eating all of the things I said I would never eat. Bread and sweets are my best friends now and I stay hungry. The struggle is real!
I use to love my water, turkey bacon and working out, but now, bring on the pork bacon and sodas! Going to the gym feels like the ultimate punishment. After every workout, I feel as if my hip is dislocated! I don’t want to get too personal, but I still get menstrual cycles that show up whenever they feel like it! God, why??? My energy level is shot! After I attend a few weekend events, it takes me an entire week to regroup.
The craziest thing I’ve experienced are these itching spells. YUP, out of nowhere I start itching on my thighs and legs mostly and I don’t have a clue why. I have switched soaps, and even changed medications and nothing works except Benadryl! My breasts have gotten bigger and heavier and I keep a bloated belly! So, my questions are: How long will I have to go through this? Are there any safe supplements that I can take that will relieve some of these symptoms? Have you experienced any of these symptoms?
