Hello, beautiful people! In today’s blog post I will talk a little about what to wear for those over 50. Do you find it difficult in deciding on what to wear and if it’s age-appropriate? Is there such a thing as age-appropriate clothing? Some of you ladies might be more like me- I do not care and I wear what I want! In my opinion, it’s all in how you wear your outfit, no matter what age you are.
I feel when it comes to the world of fashion, we spend too much time trying to follow what is supposed to be the norm. We also allow magazines and social media to set WHAT WE SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT WEAR. Don’t get me wrong, there are trends that I like, and who doesn’t like trying out new styles? But, I also understand that I don’t have to follow every trend. Style is a way to express who you are, so it’s important that you make your style statement clear.
As a middle-aged woman, I have been told that the heels on my shoes are too high, that my skirt is just too short, or a certain outfit is not for a woman my age. I have even had someone tell me that my hairstyle was not appropriate for my age! Can you believe that?! Thank God, you get older and you learn to dismiss others’ opinions of you quickly and move on.
So, yes, if you are over 50 you can wear a miniskirt or dress. You can also rock a crop top, distressed jeans, and frayed shorts. If you are still able to, wear your heels every chance you get. Women over 50 can wear whatever they want. If it makes you feel good, wear it! None of the styles I mention were created for a specific age, so feel free to do you!
